If the parking brake light doesn't turn off, several troubleshooting steps can be taken to identify the issue. These include-1. Checking The Parking Brake Switch . The parking brake switch is under the parking brake lever or pedal. Ensure the parking brake lever or pedal is fully released to check the button.
Most likely it is the parking brake switch stuck or the wiring to it is damaged. If you move the switch by hand will it stop? Do you have a tool for testing electrical so we can do some tests?
Faulty Switch: One common reason for the Parking Brake light to stay on is a failing or failed switch. This can be checked easily by moving the handle to and fro after it is down. If the light turns off (or turns off and then back on), the switch is the most likely culprit and will need to be replaced.

#1 ยท Aug 18, 2015 (Edited) I have a '13 825i, I couldn't find where this had been covered previously, but my parking brake warning is now beeping continuously. In the normal state, it only beeps if you try to put the machine in gear when the parking brake is set. Any ideas how to start chasing this one down? Thx 1 - 11 of 11 Posts A avdks
Turned out to just be the wiring harness from the vehicle to the parking brake motor. The failure message was intermittent as some on here also had. Would come on and go away and so on. Scanner displayed 2 codes in ABS module. One for parking brake malfunction and the other for left parking brake motor. Engine running alarm stopped when park brake released. With engine off the alarm did not turn off when park brake released but, did stop when battery power cut and commenced again when power restored.
1 Check that the parking brake is disengaged. It might seem obvious, but the first thing to do is make sure that the parking brake is switched off. Whether you have a parking brake with a hand lever, floor pedal, or electronic switch, make sure it's in the off position.
When the EPB is engaged with the ignition switch turned OFF, the EPB light will turn ON for 30 seconds. If the light blinks continuously after turning the EPB switch ON, the brake has not attained sufficient clamping force to hold the vehicle. This may be due to vehicle incline: look for a notification on the instrument panel display. .
